About CHoosE

CHoosE is the first and only co-ed Christian acapella group at the University of Virginia.  It stands for Christian ‘Hoos Exalt and we are based on the verse Joshua 24:15,

If serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you serve…as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

We are made up of undergraduates at UVA, all of different majors, backgrounds, and denominations.  However, we are all brought together through God to minister His word and to do His will.

We use our voices in an a’cappella* fashion to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Typically, we take songs originally written and performed by contemporary Christian artists, arrange them into four different voice parts, add a some vocal percussion, and bring it all together to provide an amazing sound and experience to those around us.

* A cappella is a music style in which no instruments are used. It is strictly vocal. There is usually one soloist, while the rest of the group sings the background parts and/or beatboxes.

If you are interested in either purchasing CD’s (old or new), T-shirts, or if you feel led to donate to the group, you can find information here!

If you would like to have us sing for your church, youth group, college/university, high school, middle school, etc. you can find information here!
